Bee Research Center

Working this summer with a few of my fellow students and Marla Spivak of the University of Minnesota’s Department of Entomology, I designed a rendering for the future U of MN Bee Research Center.

While the final landscape plan for the Bee Research Center will be developed by Damon Farber Associates, my rendering will be used to help with fundraising.  Ms. Spivak asked me to represent a space that would support bees throughout the year.  I chose a landscape that would provide sources of nectar and pollen through most of the growing season and would utilize old growth trees for windbreak during the harsh Minnesota winters.  My experience as a beekeeper helped me create a pollinator garden that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.  The building was designed by DLR Group of Minneapolis.
